Hi, I’m Carter Anderson.
I make paintings and take photos that look at the strange mix of beauty, decay, and conflict we live with every day. There’s often some dark humor or irony in the work—I like when things are a little off or unexpected. My style leans toward bold color and strong contrast, and I try to make images that catch your eye but also make you think (or at least feel something).
My work has been shaped by time spent in collaborative art communities in places like Eldorado Springs, Colorado, and Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. Those wide-open, rugged landscapes—and the people I shared them with—continue to influence how I see and create.
Whether I’m working with a brush or a camera, I’m drawn to contradictions and the in-between spaces. The goal is less about answers and more about sparking curiosity.
